The sort of political activism that large media organisations prefer to cover is so ridiculous that it is hard for the rest of us to tell if it is serious or a joke. It doesn’t matter if it is left/right, progressive/conservative, or however else you’d like to slice it, it is always inane. I like to think that before the rise of the click-bait industry, people like this were mostly just ignored.
I really can’t tell if this idiot is actually trying to make people aware of climate change, or if he is trying to mock climate change activists. Alarmingly, the journalist (or the editor) seems to be taking him seriously:
Baute built the 3-metre-by-3 metre greenhouse cube in Courtenay, B.C., and then stayed inside of it as long as he safety could with only his phone, a bucket, a hammock, some health monitoring equipment and 200 plants.
“I sealed myself in a box to raise awareness about the base science concepts surrounding climate change and to raise awareness about what we can do.”
He originally planned to stay in the cube for three days, banking on his plants to absorb most of the CO2 and keep him safe.
But cloudy weather meant the plants couldn’t do their job, and he had to emerge early.
What a wonderful time to be alive!
