If a whistle-blower is someone who exposes something scandalous that is illegal or immoral, what is the term for someone who hysterically ‘reveals’ that they have an opinion on something that is not secret, not illegal, and not scandalous?
A man who worked for the Home Affairs department up until last week fears there will be a high price to pay if the Government does not resettle refugees on Nauru and Manus Island in Australia.
Shaun Hanns was an (presumably low-level) employee of the Department of Home Affairs. In his comments to the ABC, he demonstrates no special insight into or knowledge of the complexity of Australian migration policies. He reveals nothing secret or hidden about the implementation of the policies. He shows no awareness of a conspiracy of ill-intent within the department or within the Government. He just hysterically shares his opinions, which are not particularly interesting and don’t even add anything new to public discussion of migration.
Perhaps his “4,000 word essay” will reveal something actually substantial. But until then: what an insufferable, scenery-chewing, drama queen. I hope his former cubicle-mates receive PSMs for their forbearance.
